Program Information
The Diversify Dietetics Internship Program (DDIP) is housed under Diversify Dietetics, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2018. Co-founded by a long-time dietetics’ educator and a passionate public health professional, Diversify Dietetics' mission is to increase the racial and ethnic diversity in the field of nutrition by empowering nutrition leaders of color.
DDIP Mission: To prepare graduates to be culturally-sensitive registered dietitian nutritionists with the competence and skills that will allow them to advance the science and practice of nutrition and dietetics equitably for all individuals and communities.
As part of a nonprofit organization, we raise funds to support our interns' tuition costs and offer scholarships for BIPOC applicants through our DDIP Preselect Application Scholarship.
We are a distance internship, allowing our interns to complete their supervised practice rotations in their chosen geographic area, reducing relocation costs. Our preceptors are members of the Diversify Dietetics community who are passionate about diversifying the dietetics profession and who are committed to supporting diverse students and interns.
To fulfill the Commission on Dietetics Registration standards for graduate degree education, we have established a partnership with the University of Alabama’s Master of Science in Human Nutrition program, a 30-credit hour online graduate program and Georgia State University’s Master of Science in Nutrition program, a 36-credit hour online graduate program.
Our program has two degree options:
Non-degree option: 10-month full-time program. This option is available for interns who earned a graduate degree before beginning the supervised practice program.
MS/DI Option: 18-month program. This option is available for interns who have not earned a graduate degree before beginning the supervised practice program. Interns complete their graduate coursework at the University of Alabama’s online Master of Science in Human Nutrition program while completing their supervised practice experiences.
Our program has a distance or local option. Interns in the location option would complete their rotations in the Atlanta metro area.
